We wanted to share a great inspiration and joy with you on sermon of the week. It has been over 2 years since one of
our famous church members died here at Valley Baptist Church. His name was Buck Owens. This is a soundtrack of the
memorial service that we had at VBC in April 2006. It was such a spiritual blessing to so many that we at
discovertheword.com thought we would once again share this blessing with you. The service starts out with The Birds
Herb Pedersen and Chris Hillman singing Turn, Turn, Turn. Opening Prayer by Pastor Roger Spradlin, Eulogy by Larry Daniels,
a recording of Buck Owens singing Dust on Mother's Bible, Mel Owens Jr. Spoke (Buck's Nephew), Blessed assurance was
sung By John Berry, Johnny Dale Owens spoke (Buck's Youngest son ,Who was named after Jim's step father Dale), Wafaring
Stranger was sung by Trace Adkins, Buddy Owens spoke, Dwight Yoakam sang In the Garden, Brad Paisley sang a song that
he had recently released, Michael Owens spoke, ,the message was given by Roger Spradlin and Lulu Roman gave her testimony
and sang Amazing Grace. This was a great fitting tribute to Buck and all the people he helped in the music industry and
the Bakersfield Sound. We Miss You Buck and so does the rest of the world.
